Two Dragonflies
My source book for this painting was Art of Dynastic China by William Watson. A twelfth century artist Qian Xuan who painted on silk made several images of insects and small animals that I admire. In China, the dragonfly symbolizes summer and instability due to its erratic flight and aimlessness. I think of dragonflies as relentlessly pursuing a mate.
Dimensions: 37 inches each side.
