Yellow Square
<< previous image | next image >>
This painting is one of a series of variations on the square. Systematic rearrangements of units can produce patterns that emerge only when seen in a larger group.
For this painting the border and central square all have the same light to dark orientation. It is only in the orange and green field that the squares have been rotated in a systematic way. The rotation creates a pattern when applied repeatedly.
